During the months of April and May the restoration process was slow. The original engine was gone through and evaluated for the possibility of keeping it “As Is” and was turned over for the first time in years. The good news that it is salvageable was exciting to hear as I have learned more about the desirability to keeping the existing 460ci engines in the restoration of these years of Lincoln Continental’s and the desire for the Foundation to keep as much of the original car intact during the entire process. The engine will need a “restoration” of its own during the process but for now the plan is to use it in the “Raider Mobile” is great news. The decision was made to leave it under the cars hood for now until the funds are raised for it to be removed and rebuilt. During this time the paperwork was submitted for the state of California and for the federal 501c3 status. The fundraising was slower during these months but we continue to get donations towards reaching our goal. The Foundation did a “DOUBLE YOUR DONATION” and I was happy to match over 500.00 of donations received during the month of April. We are continuing to support an opportunity that has been a possibility for the restoration process from an individual outside of our community and hope to update you all with more from that in the future. In late May we received back from Nick Battaglia and Loose Cannon Customs, the restored original California license plates many of you may remember from when the car was purchased in 1984 (See Picture). We plan to hopefully get the state of California to re-issue that plate into their system an allow us the proud moment of placing them back on the car in their original “rightful” place on the Lincoln upon completion.
